Early this morning I passed the halfway mark between Cabo and Hilo. Yesterday was very pleasant sailing. The winds calmed below 20 knots for the first time in a few days, the seas calmed, and the sun even came out in the afternoon! Today seems to be more of the same. I just raised the spinnaker, so the boat is now making excellent speed and a very calm ride, though not exactly on course as I will need to gybe downwind, probably for the rest of the way.
I celebrated my progress by rewarding myself with a shower and a clean shirt. My very manly sailor’s beard is coming in nicely and I’m watching Master and Commander to fill in my old salt curses and shanties.
